Grading

Instrumental Ensembles

Band & Strings

 

1. Playing Tests/ Music Theory:
Playing tests occur throughout the year and determine the seating of the band. In beginning courses theory worksheets are handed out weekly, due the following day for full credit. All assignments will be lowered one letter grade for every day late. (excluding excused absences).
25% of Total Grade.

2. Concerts, Festivals, & After School Rehearsals:
Performances are mandatory. The majority of after school rehearsals are during the spring semester.
30% Performances/20% Rehearsals
Combined 50% of Total Grade.

3. Practice Reports:
Turned in weekly. If student plays larger instrument like Tuba, Baritone, Tenor/Baritone Sax…etc. they will be graded accordingly.
15 % of Total Grade.

4. Newsletters:
Distributed quarterly, students will receive a  grade based on the return of parental acknowledgement, submitted by signing a printed newsletter, or by emailing Mr. Dabach.
10% of Total Grade.

Mixed Choir

 

1. Participation/ Vocal Tech.
Students are expected to:
• Exhibit proper choral habits (posture, breathing, vowel uniformity, watching director etc.)
• Be attentive, hard working and respectful in rehearsal.
• Willing to work on personal improvement in tone quality.
• Be respectful of peers & teacher
• Be committed, positive, and enthusiastic.
25% of Total Grade.

2. Concerts and Rehearsals
Performances are mandatory. Students are expected to be present, punctual, prepared, and properly groomed. Their concert uniform is clean. All students must attend the entirety if the concert, and demonstrate appropriate concert behavior; as a performer and as an audience member.
50% of Total Grade.

3. Music Theory, Classwork, & Tests
This includes, but not limited to; worksheets, music theory tests, sight reading, rhythm tests, concert evaluations,  and permission slip deadlines.
15% of Total Grade.

4. Newsletters:

10% of Total Grade.
